Colourful Czech bead creations

It was a boiling hot day yesterday, but we decided to slap on some suncream and a hat and walk most of the way into town, admiring the art nouveau buildings along the way, to visit the new bead shop that just opened in Brno. Koralky is bright and modern inside with a great selection of Czech beads hanging neatly in little bags on wall racks. I personally prefer boxes of beads that you can dip your fingers into, but still, it was a nice shop and also had a great range of beading books and magazines in Czech and English.

Lovely beads and equipment from www.koralky.cz
I treated myself to a bead board and went a bit '90s with a selection of matte rocaille beads. I also picked up some blue nylon and some silvery elements for some earrings.

I got up early this morning to do some crafting (just like last week, as I found it works well to avoid the heat which pours in my craft room window) and in not much time at all, had made myself a nice, colourful, ethnic-looking jewellery set.

I am particularly pleased with my earrings. They are a nice length and not at all heavy.

It's so much nicer making your own jewellery than buying mass-produced stuff from a shop, don't you think? :)

I have shared this post on Handmade Monday. Why not pop over and take a look?

    1. Thanks, Katie :) I couldn't resist these beads. They reminded me of happy times making bracelets with my French pen pal when I was 13.

Hope you had/are having a good staycation ;)

  3. That's a lovely set - really bright and summery colours (not that you'd know it was summer here!) - I think the bracket is my favourite

    1. :D I'm playing around a lot with my new Xoom I got for my bday. I have put Instagram for Android on it and installed some photo apps. Amazed at the results you can get with only 5 megapix.

    1. Welcome to my blog! Thanks, it's amazing once you get going what you can create. I'm such a terrible procrastinator, but getting on with it first thing, was a good plan to beat that :)

  8. I love that set, and the earrings in particular are striking. Oh for some sunshine here in the UK - it seems to have bypassed us totally this year. Enjoy it, and welcome to Handmade Monday x

  11. I'm so jealous that you can walk to your bead shop, my nearest is about half hour drive away. Love your selection of beads and what you made with them.
Thank you for popping over to my blog, I haven't used Fimo for a long time so I'm doing a bit of experimenting :)

It's been a bit warmer here today and we've even had sunshine.
